Anchor Lodge Residential Home is a premier small residential care home by the seaside for the over 65s. A house has existed on our beautiful seafront location since 1786, enjoying panoramic sea views. The care home was established on the site in 1987.
Dedicated to promoting independence, dignity and individuality, our team has a long history of providing personal, dementia and Alzheimers care.
We offer memory care services taking into account the special needs of individuals with memory loss including safety, building layout, activities and dietary needs. We focus on meeting preferences, maximising capabilities and fostering maximum independence. Professional assistance is available 24-hours a day. The home is a small simple layout and visual cues that help residents stay oriented and as independent as possible.
Our purpose is to provide the BEST LIFE POSSIBLE to older people living with diminished cognitive and/or physical limitations. We do this by choosing people who emit a genuine enthusiasm for providing good quality care.
Our staff our motivated, empathetic and flexible to the choices of our clients. All of our carers have been with us for several years, and thus we are more like a large family. Our residents become part of that family and we do everything we can to make sure they feel at home and are happy.
All staff go through a comprehensive recruitment process. Not only do we look at their qualifications, experience and skills, they also need excellent references and have an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check.
We ensure they are trained to a high standard, and all of them have completed their NVQ2 in Health and Social Care as a minimum. In addition to this all our staff complete their mandatory training within the first 3 months of joining as part of their induction and probationary period. And this training is repeated in line with the regulations.
All members of staff are trained in First Aid, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Palliative Care, Moving and Handling, Safe Administration of Medicines and Infection Control. Staff also take specialist training as required to provide knowledgeable care to the requirements of the residents living in our home.
At the helm since 2003 is Uzaira, who has grown up in a family in the residential care business and brought this breadth of experience with her.
Our home is managed on a day to day basis by Linda, who has 40 years experience in the care industry, of which the last 8 have been at Anchor Lodge.
Sue Llewellyn, who has over 25 years experience in the industry, of which the last 12 years have been at Anchor Lodge, capably assists Linda.
